Previously Gurugram was known as Gurgaon, is a leading city of Delhi NCR in the Haryana state of India. It is 31 km (20 mi) southwest of New Delhi the capital of India and 268 km (167 mi) southwest of Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and Haryana.

Gurugram has become a leading financial institutional and industrial hub with the third highest income in India. The cities economical growth started when automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki established a manufacturing plant in Gurgaon in the 1970. Today, Gurugram has local offices for more than  550 companies.
